Fair Housing Learning Objectives
At the end of this course the students will be able to:
1. Identify two laws that cover fair housing
2. List the seven protected groups in the fair housing act
3. Name two classes added in 1988
4. Explain the illegal acts of steering
5. Explain the illegal acts of blockbusting
6. Explain the illegal acts of redlining
7. Define harassment as it pertains to discrimination in housing
8. Discuss Emotional Support Animals and their requirement for reasonable accommodations.
9. Describe the difference between reasonable accommodations and modifications for people with disabilities.
10. Discuss the complaint process
11. List ways to protect themselves from liability
12. List the penalties for violating the Fair Housing Act.
13. State what answer to give when confronted with a discrimination problem
14. Understand why the laws were necessary
15. Distinguish the state law protections regarding fair housing
16. Describe best practices in fair housing marketing
17. Identify resources for fair housing information
18. Recognize the danger in making assumptions on stereotypes, and allowing the consumer the opportunity to choose.
